Morris wallpaper from Closs & Hamblin. Compton was designed by John Henry Dearle in 1895 specially for Compton Hall in Wolverhampton the home of Laurence Hodson. The original design required two sets of wood blocks to print all 28 colours owing to the large vertical repeating pattern but has since been scaled down and adapted for a wider audience. Compton is still a popular wallpaper and is also available in a printed cotton. Recommended Paste Elite Ready Mixed Tub Paste.

As a political theorist, publisher, environmental campaigner, poet, as well as an outstanding designer, William Morris (1834–1896) was one of the single most influential figures of the nineteenth century. Under his direction, Morris & Co. grew to the status of Arts & Crafts icon that it remains to this day. Drawing inspiration from original 19th-century logbooks and William Morris designs in their archive, this authentic Morris & Co. collection is tailor-made for every budding craftsperson. Sharing the unequivocal joy of familiarity, this collection is an interpretation of memories. Of sights, sounds, patterns and places. Of experiences and being together. The awakening of a budding landscape, sprinkled with bright greens, copper-tipped reds, summer yellows and framed by a sparkling blue sea. Warmth, growth and a renewing of life.
