William Morris at Home Flora & Foliage Volume 1 Collection William Morris Woodland Weeds Barley Fabric.
The natural world provided William Morris with the perfect inspiration. The sweeping shapes and soothing repetitions he observed in the gardens and rural environments he knew well were a key source for his floral fabric and wallpaper designs. Flora & Foliage showcases Morris’ designs that capture the beauty of humble, everyday wildflowers and common plants recognisable to all.
Depicting ‘millefluers’ or many different small flowers and plants Woodland Weeds is one of Ben’s favourite designs. Often shown on a green ground as though growing in grass the pattern is attributed to John Henry Dearle. First printed in 1905
