Beautiful William Morris Fabric From Closs & Hamblin. Designed by John Henry Dearle, Montreal was one of the most understated, yet the most woven of all of the oriental-style carpets produced by Morris & Co. Produced in both Hammersmith and Axminster versions, the originals would have been woven with contrasting borders of either red or blue. A part of the Archive IV collection, this fabric has been presented in three colourways onto a sumptuous velvet. Please note shade variation may occur due to differences in screen resolution and manufacturer dye lots.

As a political theorist, publisher, environmental campaigner, poet, as well as an outstanding designer, William Morris (1834–1896) was one of the single most influential figures of the nineteenth century. Under his direction, Morris & Co. grew to the status of Arts & Crafts icon that it remains to this day.
Drawing inspiration from original 19th-century logbooks and William Morris designs in their archive, this authentic Morris & Co. collection is tailor-made for every budding craftsperson.
Sharing the unequivocal joy of familiarity, this collection is an interpretation of memories. Of sights, sounds, patterns and places. Of experiences and being together. The awakening of a budding landscape, sprinkled with bright greens, copper-tipped reds, summer yellows and framed by a sparkling blue sea. Warmth, growth and a renewing of life.
